A U.S. judge has asked Elon Musk to testify in an investigation into whether securities fraud was committed in his 2022 acquisition of Twitter, according to the Daily Planet. The U.S. SEC is investigating whether Musk or others committed securities fraud in the purchase of shares before the acquisition of the social media company. Elon Musk completed the acquisition of Twitter in October 2022 for approximately $44 billion and has since rebranded it as X. Federal Judge Laurel Beeler believes that although Elon Musk and his legal team believe that the SEC's subpoena in the matter constitutes harassment of Musk, the federal financial regulator's request is "within its authority" and their subpoena is "clear and seeks relevant information" for the investigation. Federal financial regulators and Elon Musk now have a week to determine the date and location of his testimony.
