Odaily Planet Daily reports that Belarusian Deputy Energy Minister Denis Moroz welcomes more cryptocurrency miners to the country, and more and more mining investors are showing strong interest in it. Moroz stated that the government is holding 'consultation' meetings with unnamed parties. Cryptocurrency mining companies are also analyzing possible locations for new mining sites in Belarus. Government officials noted that cryptocurrency miners have consumed 120 megawatts of electricity. Moroz believes, 'Cryptocurrency mining is a promising industry that has gained new vitality in Belarus.' Moroz added that the Ministry of Energy only wants to cooperate with participants 'interested in working long-term in Belarus's energy system.' He also mentioned that incoming cryptocurrency miners should help 'create the necessary infrastructure' to assist Minsk in expanding its cryptocurrency mining capabilities, 'We see very great prospects and have received many requests. I believe we will see new projects launched in the near future.' Additionally, the government intends to offer 'incentive tariffs' to attract cryptocurrency miners. (BelTA)
