Odaily Planet Daily News Stacks founder Muneeb Ali stated in a panel discussion that the general consensus in the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry is that Bitcoin is an old chain where you can't do anything, a sentiment reflected in the developer community. It wasn't until about a year ago that this misunderstanding began to change as developers realized that, beyond the challenges, you can develop on the Bitcoin chain. Ali stated, 'Developers are returning to the mothership,' and noted that an increasing number of people are recognizing that Bitcoin L2 and sidechains will play an important role in Bitcoin's future. He also believes, 'Bitcoin needs L2 more than Ethereum does because Ethereum is programmable at the base layer.' He added that as early as the 2013-2014 Bitcoin era, there was the idea that any successful experiment of a small blockchain would return to Bitcoin. At that time, some viewed the then-immature Ethereum ecosystem as Bitcoin's testnet. 'It took a long time, but it has finally come to fruition,' Ali explained, adding that Ethereum has effectively contributed over five years of R&D results, allowing Bitcoin project developers not to spend another four or five years exploring what has already been discovered.
