U.S. President-elect Trump announced on his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday that he has nominated economist and former advisor Stephen Miran to be the chair of the Economic Advisory Council. The council will provide economic policy and strategy advice to the executive branch.

Miran previously served as a senior economic policy advisor at the Treasury Department during Trump's first term. He recently stated on a Bitcoin-related podcast (The Bitcoin Layer) that the U.S. should focus on policies that support innovation and told the host:

I believe that easing financial regulations will be a strong component. I think cryptocurrencies could play an important role in innovation and lead to another economic boom under the Trump administration.

Appointment of Bo Hines to lead the President's Digital Assets Advisory Committee

In addition, Trump announced the appointment of former American football player Bo Hines as the executive director of the new advisory department 'Cryptocurrency Committee.' Hines ran for the North Carolina House of Representatives as a Republican in 2022 but lost to Democrat Wiley Nickel.

Bo Hines will serve as the executive director of the President's Digital Assets Advisory Committee ('Cryptocurrency Committee'), a new advisory group composed of prominent figures from the cryptocurrency industry, chaired by our crypto czar David Sacks. Trump stated in an article on Monday: 'Bo will work with David to promote innovation and growth in the digital asset space while ensuring that industry leaders have the resources they need to succeed. Together, they will create an environment where the industry can thrive and continue to be a cornerstone of national technological advancement.'

Trump appointed David Sacks as the White House's first 'AI and Crypto Czar' in early December, responsible for guiding U.S. policy and regulatory affairs in AI and cryptocurrency.

On Monday, Trump also announced the appointment of former partner at the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Sriram Krishnan, as a senior AI policy advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Krishnan responded to his appointment on social media platform X, saying: 'I am honored to serve our country and work closely with David Sacks to ensure America's continued leadership in AI.'
