The AI Agents in the Cryptocurrency World Are Mostly Useless
1. Over the weekend, I was wondering if AI agents in the cryptocurrency world would become widespread in the future.
Some analysts in the circle have already started saying that there could be over 8 billion AI agents in the cryptocurrency world in the future.
Everyone knows that AI agents have a promising future, and most people should have no objections to that.
However, the AI agents made by OpenAI and those in the cryptocurrency world are not on the same level at all.
Cryptocurrency AI agents basically lack core competitiveness; many are just slightly modified open-source models, adding some cryptocurrency wallet calls and APIs for social network postings, etc.
I asked several people in the AI industry within the circle, and they generally feel that cryptocurrency AI agents are completely useless.
2. I conducted a survey and found that the vast majority of retail investors don't use cryptocurrency AI agents; they are just here to speculate.
This is very different from DeFi.
I remember that before Uni launched its token in 2020, almost everyone around me was a deep user of Uni.
This time, I asked around, and the result was that no one was a user of these AI agents.
This indicates that the current cryptocurrency AI agents are not as solid compared to DeFi.
3. Therefore, some analysts have said that the current AI agents are a bit like the metaverse in 2021.
On one hand, big companies outside are working on it, raising funds vigorously, and the vision is also quite grand.
On the other hand, projects like Sand emerged in the circle by combining NFTs and the metaverse, reaching a market value of 5 billion at one point.
As a result, after the bubble burst, almost all projects in the upstream and downstream of the metaverse were wiped out, with none surviving.
Now, the leading projects in AI agents are also roughly at the 1 billion level.
From a historical perspective, the explosive power of this round of altcoin bull market is obviously not as strong as the last round.
Although there may still be some space for the AI agent track in the future, the process is expected not to be too smooth.
