On December 12, Sequentia co-founder Andreas Kohl tweeted that he was able to disable 69% of the Dogecoin network nodes. This was made possible due to a previously discovered vulnerability.
The DOGE Efficiency Department confirmed on its page X that the vulnerability was indeed exploited, stating that there were previously 647 public nodes, and now there are 205.
The DogeReaper vulnerability was exploited. With it, it is possible to remotely disable any node, knowing only its ID in the network.
Since the ID is public, this makes DogeReaper dangerous for arbitrary nodes and even the stability of the protocol itself.
