On December 2, the developers of the L1 blockchain Sonic Labs announced the launch of the mainnet and the processing of the first block of transactions. According to them, the system is already in the deployment process and will be available to users 'soon'.
The new network will implement, among other things, technology for simultaneous processing of blocks in multiple rollups and a cross-chain bridge with Ethereum called Sonic Gateway.
According to co-founder Andre Kronje, the infrastructure will be launched in the coming days. This will be followed by decentralized applications.
To celebrate the launch of the mainnet, the developers plan to conduct an airdrop of the native coin of the Sonic network with the ticker S. The distribution of 190.5 million S among project users is planned (about $232 million at a price of $1.2).
The amount of the stamp will depend on the number of points that could be earned for developing applications for Sonic and participating in mini-games.
In reward for completing tasks, users were also given special NFTs — 'shards'. Those who managed to collect six such tokens will be able to receive additional points.
