Market Review

Last Friday, the market generally believed that Trump's coming to power would boost the dollar, and the weakening of the Fed's expectations of rate cuts next year further supported the dollar trend. The dollar index once rushed above the 108 mark, close to a 13-month high, for the first time since November 2022. In the end, the dollar index closed up 0.43% at 107.49. The benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury yield closed at 4.4410%; the two-year U.S. Treasury yield, which is more sensitive to monetary policy, closed at 4.3840%.

Due to the increasing uncertainty of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, spot gold rose for five consecutive trading days, and finally closed up 1.74% at $2,715.81 per ounce, marking the best weekly performance since March 2023. Spot silver finally closed up 1.77% at $31.33 per ounce.

It is reported that OPEC+ may announce a postponement of production increase in December, and international oil prices rose. WTI crude oil finally closed up 1.48% at $71.12 per barrel, while Brent crude oil closed up 1.08% at $75.05 per barrel.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.97%, the S&P 500 rose 0.35%, and the Nasdaq rose slightly by 0.16%. Tesla (TSLA.O) rose 3.80%, hitting a new high since April 2022. Most crypto stocks rose, with Bit Digital (BTBT.O) up 11.28%, Canaan Inc. (CAN.O) up 8.24%, and Marathon Digital (MARA.O) up 7.65%. The Nasdaq China Golden Dragon Index fell 1.37%, iQiyi (IQ.O) fell 3.47%, and Bilibili (BILI.O) fell 3.19%.

Major European stock indices rose across the board, with Germany's DAX30 index closing up 0.92%; Britain's FTSE 100 index closing up 1.38%; and Europe's STOXX 50 index closing up 0.70%.

The main Hong Kong stock indices continued to fall in the afternoon. The Hang Seng Index fell by more than 2% in the afternoon, hitting a new low since early November; the Hang Seng Technology Index fell by more than 3%. As of the close, the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index closed down 1.89%, the Hang Seng Technology Index closed down 2.57%, and the Hang Seng market turnover reached HK$157.983 billion. As of the close, the Shanghai Composite Index fell 3.06%; the Shenzhen Component Index fell 3.52%, the ChiNext Index fell 3.99%; and the Beijing Stock Exchange 50 fell 5.16%. The turnover of the two markets was 1,789.7 billion yuan; the net outflow of funds in the market exceeded 132 billion yuan. The market stocks showed a trend of more declines than increases, with 429 stocks rising and 4,917 stocks falling. Among them, 78 stocks rose by the daily limit and 17 stocks fell by the daily limit.
