The information was shared by Alcalá in a context in which the INAI is intended to be eliminated. “It is important to consider the importance of the defense of personal data, in a scheme of autonomy, because it is not a question of monetary issues, but of human rights,” said the highest authority of the institute, and added:

Our autonomous work allows us to initiate investigations when possible violations of personal data are detected, as well as to determine, with a view to guaranteeing human rights, the impact that this has.

The alarms against Worldcoin were already on in the country

On April 10, María Eugenia Hernández, a member of the Mexican Congress, denounced Worldcoin's operations within Mexican territory, as Cointelegraph in Spanish had previously reported.

At that time, the Mexican legislator requested the National Institute of Transparency (INAI) to carry out an “impact assessment of the protection of personal data, in the biometric data collection model” that Worldcoin executes for the distribution of its token among its users.
