Opposition candidate González Urrutia asks Maduro for a “frank dialogue” that includes “the proposals of each party”
The presidential candidate of the Venezuelan opposition, Edmundo González Urrutia, who claims to be the winner of the last elections on July 28, asked the government of Nicolás Maduro on Wednesday to reestablish a “frank” dialogue to resolve the crisis in Venezuela. González Urrutia did not attend the summons of the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, a body controlled by Chavismo that Maduro entrusted with an audit in response to opposition complaints of fraud and the demand that physical records of the votes be shown.
The legal and constitutional powers of the Electoral Power are being ignored,” González Urrutia said in his statement, which considers that it is this body that must assume the complaints of fraud. “The timely aggregation based on the minutes of the scrutiny made available to the participating political organizations and candidates has not been carried out, nor have all the audits ordered by current regulations been carried out.”
