The announcement of the upcoming Ronin zkEVM came with some questions, we've done our best to answer them below ⚔️

Q: Will this delay the plan to make Ronin permissionless? Allowing permissionless L2s isn’t the same as enabling developers to deploy on Ronin.

A: No, this initiative does not delay Ronin's path to permissionlessness. In fact, it opens up the path for Ronin to go permissionless. This is a big step towards Ronin’s infinite scalability and a permissionless ecosystem.

Q: Is Ronin zkEVM a L2 on Ethereum? What happens to Ronin L1 now?

A: Ronin zkEVM settles on Ronin. Built with Sky-Mavis modified Polygon CDK that creates economic alignment between Ronin zkEVM sequencers and Ronin L1 Validators.

Q: Is Ronin itself becoming a L2?

A: The Agglayer is a potential path forward for Ronin to turn itself into a L2.

Q: Regarding the 250K $RON required for starting the chain, is this a payment or simply a locked amount?

A: This is the self-stake requirement needed to start a Ronin validator now. Refer to the Ronin validator documentation for more details.

Q: How can we claim to be open and permissionless if 250K $RON is needed to deploy?

A: Deploying any game or dApp related smart contracts will not require this amount staked; it's specifically to launch their own Layer 2 chains on top of the Ronin mainnet.

Q: Does paying for the 250K $RON to deploy a new chain also grant you access to the Mavis Market and Katana DEX as well?

A: Referring to the above question, the $RON required is not a payment. Access to both Mavis Market and Katana DEX is part of the plan for the first zkEVM(s).

Q: Will our $RON need to be converted to $MATIC to integrate with their technology?

A: No, there's no requirement to convert $RON to $MATIC for integration purposes.

Q: Can we confirm that no payment was made in return for using CDK, considering it is open-source?

A: Yes, no payment was made for using CDK, as it is open-source.

Q: When will permissionless game, app and token launches happen on Ronin Network? Is it also 2025?

A: Yes, permissionless game, app and token launches can happen on the permissionless zkEVM. If all goes as envisioned, the first permissionless mainnet zkEVM will be launched by Sky Mavis and aim to host any type of games, apps and possibly memecoins. We can’t wait to see more chains & more games in Ronin ecosystem!

This achievement is the result of our commitment to onboarding real people to our movement.

The next step in our journey builds on this core DNA, and adds the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK) to our arsenal.

Soon, more third-party builders will have the ability to launch their own Layer 2 blockchains on top of Ronin mainnet.

These new Ronin chains will use zero-knowledge proofs to open the door to more games, more players, and more economic freedom.
