The co-founders of the cryptocurrency mixing service Samourai Wallet, Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, have been arrested on charges of laundering $100 million from Silk Road and other illegal markets. Prosecutors allege that Samourai, an unlicensed remittance company, facilitated over $2 billion in illegal transactions, including $100 million in money laundering transactions for dark web markets. Rodriguez was apprehended in Pennsylvania and faces trial there, while Hill was arrested in Portugal, with extradition sought by the United States. Additionally, Samourai's web servers and domain names have been seized, and its app is no longer available for download from the Google Play store in the U.S. Both Rodriguez and Hill face charges of money laundering and operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, with potential maximum sentences of 20 years and 5 years respectively.
