Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made the decision to step down from his role as the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and Prime Minister, effective upon the selection of his successor within the party.
Trudeau has faced substantial backlash for his failure to address housing shortages, inflation, and other economic challenges plaguing Canada. Additionally, he cited internal struggles as a reason why he believes he is not the ideal candidate for the upcoming Canadian federal election in 2025.

Trudeau, who has been critical of Bitcoin and exhibited poor economic policies, criticized his political opponent Pierre Poilievre, the Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, in 2023 for advising Canadians to hedge against inflation by investing in bitcoin. Trudeau misrepresented Poilievre’s comment to dissuade people from considering bitcoin as a viable option, implying significant risks. However, the value of bitcoin has surged by 375% since Trudeau’s negative remarks about its investment potential.
If Trudeau had been more transparent and forward-thinking, he would have encouraged Canadians to embrace bitcoin as a means of safeguarding their wealth, just as Poilievre did.
