What are some of the milestones of Shib last year?For those that do not know - Shib is an experiment in decentralised community building. It has started as a locked liquidity pair on Uniswap and has grown into the ecosystem you see today.It is difficult to underestimate the impact Shib has on crypto community.Yet, last year it truly came out of its shell and took centre stage at major crypto events like SXSW 2023 (where first Shib the Metaverse hub - the WAGMI temple has been showcased to the world for the first time), Outer Edge LA, NAB Show, Consensus 2023 and CoinAgenda to name but a few.But arguably the biggest of all has been Eth Toronto, which was taken over by Shib and its partners and was a resounding success.At the conference our very own Eth L2 network - Shibarium - has been launched live. The network is extremely robust and powerful and is designed to address the common scalability issues users encounter - allowing for large number of transactions to take place at the same time while keeping gas fees really low (I mean fractions of a penny for a single transaction). This allows incredible opportunities to those who want to build projects on Shib's own blockchain.At the same time - as network is designed to use 70% of gas fees to burn Shib - the large number of transactions occurring on the network (over 280m from networks launch in August last year!) - already over 33.8 Bn Shib has been burned while a lot more is still in the pipeline.Another reveal of equal magnitude has been the presentation of the Shib Paper - our founding document. It can be likened to a constitution and charts our direction to become nothing less than first-ever Digital State. It is a fascinating read and I encourage everyone to do so (if they haven't already).Along the way Shib made a few friends and partnershibs (like Many Pacquiao Foundation - making sure that Shib carries positive social impact in everything it does, and D3 Global - a next-gen domain company - together with which we are aiming to make .shib one of the first crypto top level domains dedicated to decentralisation and finally putting the 'web' into 'web3'.Combined with Shib Name Service - the digital identity - seamlessly infused in all Shib products - promises to simplify and speed up crypto adoption in the world.An example of this is The Shib magazine which has been launched this year. It provides a trove of useful crypto news and education to its readers, while allowing to seamlessly create a crypto wallet and mint the magazine covers as NFTs directly on Shibarium while the gas for doing so is sponsored by the magazine itself. The process is simpler than registering for a Facebook account, yet much safer and users might not even realise that they are already using the blockchain technology.I believe that this is the key to mass crypto adoption - making the technology so seamless and simple that users do not even have to think about what they are doing. And Shib is working really hard in this direction and encourages all our colleagues to do the same. This is not a competition.
