Validity proofs (zk-Rollups) use cryptographic verification to ensure transactions are final and secure immediately after being processed off-chain and posted on-chain. In contrast, fraud proofs (Optimistic Rollups) assume transactions are correct and allow a challenge period to contest any fraudulent activity, which can introduce inefficiencies. While fraud proofs offer simplicity, validity proofs provide a higher level of security and immediate finality.
