Rollups are often referred to as a possible solution to the well-known «blockchain trilemma,» the inability of a Layer 1 network to efficiently cover three main properties: decentralization, security, and scalability.
ZK-based solutions effectively balance out three components, maintaining a high level of security and decentralization while significantly improving transaction speed and throughput.
We're diving deeper into L2 architecture. Today, we're exploring the role of sequencers and their primary functions.
What are Rollup Sequencers?
In non-technical words, a sequencer acts as a traffic controller of transactions within the rollup architecture, maintaining the correct flow from L2 to L1.
The Role of Sequencers
A sequencer's role involves retrieving transactions from a Layer 2 mempool and preparing them for submission to the Ethereum mainnet. This preparation includes verifying and ordering the transactions and then bundling them into a single batch. This batch is then submitted to Ethereum as a single transaction.
Basically, sequencers are responsible for the whole "rolling up" mechanism, making them one of the system's most crucial elements.
We're thrilled to welcome @DeGuardVPN, a next-gen DePIN Web3 VPN service, on board.

While explaining scaling solutions, zk-rollups and Validiums are often said to have similarities.
Explaining the differences and identical points.
📍 What Are Validiums?
As a scaling solution, Validiums also utilize validity proofs to verify transactions off-chain, similar to zk-rollups, reducing the load on the main chain and leading to enhanced throughput.
📍 Core Difference:
The main difference between the two solutions lies in data availability. Validiums store data off-chain, unlike zk-rollups, which store it on-chain.
📍 Advantages & Risks:
Although off-chain DA reduces gas costs, zk-rollups provide better security, as Validiums rely on external DA providers holding a risk of compromising data integrity and a certain degree of centralization.
However, Validiums offer immense throughput, making the solution suitable for high-capacity applications.
$PROM, the native utility token of Prom network, is its driving force. It holds transactional power and acts as a gas token, powers decision-making, dApps built on Prom, and creates a unified user experience.
If you are a newcomer to the Prom community, we remind you that $PROM is tradable on multiple CEXs, including @binance, @HTX_Global, @kucoincom, @gate_io, @upbitglobal, and @AscendEX_, and is also available on @Uniswap.
Stay tuned as we further unveil the utility of $PROM within our ecosystem.
