A researcher from the #OpenSea security team under the pseudonym Plum spoke about scammers who are engaged in phishing attacks on the Discord servers of NFT projects. According to him, 95% of these scammers were under the age of 18, most of them are still in school. Plum attributes the recent attacks to the start of the summer holidays. After personal communication with the scammers, the researcher found out that they spend the money they earn on new PC hardware and Roblox skins.
According to PeckShield, at least 32,000 victims' wallets have been affected by such attacks over the past nine months. In total, the attackers stole #NFTs and tokens for a total of $73 million.
