Introduction

Despite the global economic challenges, 2023 was marked by a significant increase in the total market cap and price of crypto-assets, especially in the last quarter. The total crypto market cap surpassed $1.6 trillion in December, with an increase of more than 110% throughout the year. In line with such growth, Binance Academy continued to focus on quality education for the ever-growing community of blockchain users.

In 2023, Binance Academy helped more than 27 million learners boost their understanding of the world of blockchain and cryptocurrency (in 31 languages). Featuring an impressive outreach, the Binance Academy University Tour saw over 10,000 attendees, with representation from 139 universities spanning 45 countries.

From expanding the Global University Outreach Program to introducing Intermediate Courses and achieving significant metrics, this article delves into Binance Academy’s key milestones, which have helped shape the digital education landscape.

Expansion of the Global University Outreach Program

In October 2023, Binance Academy and Blockchain Center announced a collaboration to expand their Global University Outreach Program, aiming to integrate blockchain education into the curricula of over 200 universities across more than 50 countries. The initiative plans to educate over one million students in blockchain engineering and compliance by 2026.

In the long term, the partnership aims to provide specialized training to more than 300 university educators, creating a comprehensive academic knowledge bank. Blockchain Center will oversee the educational and training components of the program, while Binance Academy will contribute to scaling the initiative globally and facilitating guest lectures with industry experts.

The program comprises a 20-week Blockchain Engineering course covering distributed ledger technology, BNB Chain fundamentals, Web3, and Solidity development, and a 13-week Compliance program focusing on the intersection of blockchain and regulatory policy. 

To select participating universities, the Blockchain Center used a methodology considering regional influence, educational infrastructure, the Cryptocurrency Adoption Index, the Frontier Technologies Readiness Index, and the Academic Freedom Index. 

Binance Academy's extensive network will play a crucial role in onboarding new universities. The initiative builds upon the success of its pilot program in Kazakhstan, where 4,000 students have already begun studying blockchain-related subjects.

Intermediate Courses Launch

Binance Academy has introduced a set of intermediate-level courses as part of its commitment to advancing blockchain and cryptocurrency education. Following the success of its beginner track, the free online courses cater to individuals who have already mastered the basics. The intermediate track comprises six courses covering Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, and DApps. The following tracks will explore DeFi, NFT, and Crypto Trading.

Upon successful completion of each course, learners have the opportunity to receive Certificates of Achievement. These certificates serve as proof of completing a study track at Binance Academy. Users can collect up to six certificates as they progress through the intermediate track. The initiative aims to empower individuals with the knowledge needed to navigate the rapidly maturing Web3 sector.

Metrics of Success

The Binance Academy University Tour had over 10,000 attendees across more than 139 universities and 45 countries.

Binance Academy helped almost 27 million people navigate the world of crypto and blockchain in 2023.

591,000 learners took an Academy course, with over 120,000 NFT certificates distributed.
