Cosmos developers have patched a "critical" security bug in its Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, which could have put over $126 million at risk, according to blockchain security firm Asymmetric Research. The bug could have enabled a reentrancy attack, allowing a hacker to mint infinite tokens on IBC-connected chains such as Osmosis. Asymmetric Research privately disclosed the vulnerability to Cosmos, and no funds were lost due to malicious exploitation. The bug, which has been present since the launch of ibc-go in 2021, only became exploitable after the launch of a new third-party application, IBC middleware.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed decisions on BlackRock and Grayscale's applications for spot Ether (ETH) exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The SEC's decision on Grayscale's ETH Trust conversion to a spot ETH exchange-traded product on NYSE Arca, originally due on April 24, has been extended by 60 days to June 23. The SEC also pushed back its decision on Franklin Templeton's proposed spot ETH ETF, now expected by June 11. Binance executive, Tigran Gambaryan, detained in Nigeria since February, will remain in custody until his bail hearing on May 17.
