Kenya's Ministry of Finance said that global cryptocurrency exchanges used by an estimated 4 million users in Kenya will begin to impose a 1.5% digital tax on their revenue. It is reported that the digital tax was originally proposed in 2020 as an attempt by the Kenyan government to extract revenue from leading cryptocurrency exchanges and tax-avoiding digital asset platforms.
