Call to Action: What else is needed to make great full-chain games quickly given the current infrastructure, and what else do we need to take off? What are we waiting for?

I get asked multiple times a week: “Stokasz, what else do we need to drive full-chain gaming and mass adoption in crypto? What piece of infrastructure is missing?”

I am bullish on the current landscape of full-chain gaming infrastructure, full-chain game engine technology (MUD, Dojo, World Engine, Curio's efforts, Playmint and Proof of Play's proprietary technology) is advancing, and making full-chain games is becoming easier and easier over the course of months (but companies are also raising the bar for what's possible). As we focus on more challenging designs, the development time for simple features is decreasing.

I think you can already make a $20M+ game using state-of-the-art engine technology. More importantly, for a few specific types of games, I believe this is already possible by March-April 2023. We just don't know how to achieve profitability (but the infrastructure is there, and some projects have proven this, but have not yet achieved commercial success).

I think the biggest challenge we face is how to design full-chain games that users are willing to play and pay for.

So what else do we need? The honest answer is: I have a gut feeling about what the "best" design is, and I'm happy to see us and other companies experiment and iterate. But there's still something missing, and after Dark Forest, we haven't seen any full-chain games gain widespread attention in the Crypto space.

We need more full-chain games that are ready for mainnet deployment. The longer we stay in testnets and game testing like now, the longer it will take to scale and accelerate.

Builders - Get your full-chain game to mainnet. Let users tell us their feedback on the game and features. Show them digital physics, permanence, risk games, composable design. Let players play with players!

what else?

We need a model that combines great design, novel technology, and player interest. A fair launch with a low initial valuation, like what happened in the DeFi space in 2019.

To sum up, what are we missing now?

  • game design

  • Mainnet Release

  • Token Model

The sooner the above issues are resolved, the sooner revenue will flow in and research will accelerate.

About the Author

Stokarz has always been inclined to participate in activities based on blockchain technology, and this journey began with his early involvement in DeFi and its large-scale utilization. Subsequently, he began to explore NFT and GameFi. However, he gradually realized that the potential of these projects was somewhat constrained by technical limitations. They were mainly focused on financial applications, representing assets only through images (such as PFP) or wrapped DeFi (such as GameFi).

The desire for broader possibilities led him to move in a new direction: incorporating on-chain multiplayer games. He sees these games as a key step toward a larger goal, which is to eventually create a digital world entirely on-chain. Using these multiplayer games as foundational elements paves the way for what he believes will be a revolutionary evolution in the field of blockchain technology.

"With on-chain multiplayer gaming, he is entering uncharted territory, attempting to push the boundaries of what can be achieved within the blockchain space. This development represents not only a personal journey, but also a broader movement to unlock the full potential of blockchain technology in creating immersive and interactive digital experiences."
