Recap of IOST’s Co-hosted Events, Sushi Delights, and Geisha Performances at Japan’s Premier Startup Conference

The largest venture capitalists and startups gathering, IVS Kyoto 2024, convened from July 4th to 6th in Kyoto, Japan. Under the theme “Cross the Boundaries,” the conference aimed to expand the startup community and foster talent mobility. IVS Crypto focused on the evolution and application of blockchain technology, exploring the future of Web3.0 across gaming, entertainment, and AI.

IOST co-hosted two official side events in collaboration with our partners during this event. On July 4th, “FORTUNE NIGHT” was hosted by OKCoin Japan and Digital Entertainment Asset (DEA), while on July 5th, “Web3 SUSHI & GEISHA Night” took place courtesy of HashPort.

Fortune Night

As an IVS Kyoto 2024 side event, OKCoin Japan and Digital Entertainment Asset (DEA) co-hosted with IOST and Zilliqa.

This event, held during Japan Fintech Week, featured presentations from DEA, which integrates gaming elements to address social issues, and Zilliqa, a project established in 2015. Dr. Wada from the IOST community unveiled the new “Story Chain” app on the IOST platform.

A highlight of the evening was a lively prize draw offering DEAP coins from DEA, IOST coins, and a OneKey hardware wallet adorned with the OKCoin Japan logo.

Web3 Sushi & Geisha Night

At the picturesque Heian Shrine Hall in Kyoto, HashPort hosted the traditional IVS Conference side event, “Web3 SUSHI & GEISHA Night,” co-hosted by IOST, HashKey DX, Kyuzan, and BOESIN.

Against the backdrop of a historic Japanese garden from the Meiji era, the event attracted Japanese stakeholders, industry professionals, and international Web3 enthusiasts. Mr. Li from HashKey DX, also an IOST node partner, delivered the opening remarks.

Guests savored a deluxe sushi experience prepared by skilled chefs and enjoyed the captivating “Geisha Dance,” a cherished Kyoto tradition dating back two centuries. Both international attendees and Japanese guests were captivated by the elegance and cultural richness of the Geisha performance.

Looking ahead, IOST remains committed to hosting community-focused events in Japan throughout the latter half of 2024. Additionally, following last year’s success, IOST will participate in WebX Asia 2024, continuing to drive innovation and engagement in the blockchain ecosystem.

About IOST

High fees and slower transaction times on the Ethereum network have left the door open for new solutions to emerge, and IOST is one such project that has been gaining traction since its mainnet launch in 2019.

Backed by significant financial and VC firms such as Sequoia, Matrix, and ZhenFund, IOST is a pioneering decentralized, high-throughput, gas-efficient Proof-of-Believability-powered smart contract platform built to tackle the scalability trilemma once and for all. For this, the concluding ranking from China’s CCID ranked IOST as the best blockchain platform under Basic Technology, better than Ethereum, EOS, and every other smart-contracting platform evaluated by the agency. This is a testament to the quality and ability to roll out a better, innovative product and reflects our genuine desire to be the best in the sphere.

Being one of the public chain leaders in adoption, performance, and utility, IOST remains committed to our mission to unleash the power of blockchain. IOST currently has an ever-expanding 500,000 members community in over 20 countries, over 400 nodes, a top-tier staking ecosystem, and symbiotic relationships with corporations dotted worldwide.
