Microsoft is hiring former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman. Altman was fired from OpenAI on Friday after the board said it was "no longer confident in his ability to continue to lead OpenAI." Following discussions about Altman's possible return to OpenAI, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman would join Microsoft's new cutting-edge artificial intelligence research group.

Let us remind you that earlier it became known that former CEO and co-founder of Twitch Emmett Shear was appointed head of OpenAI. He will succeed Mira Murati, who was named interim CEO of OpenAI following Altman's ouster on Friday.
Altman was in talks to return as OpenAI CEO, but OpenAI's four-member board refused to step down and allow him to return, according to multiple sources at The Verge.
Microsoft has formed a new advanced artificial intelligence research group that will include Altman and Brockman. This comes just a week after Microsoft announced it was building its own AI chip that could be used to train large language models and potentially avoid a costly dependency on Nvidia. Microsoft has also created its own Arm-based processor for cloud workloads. Both custom silicon chips are designed for Azure data centers.
