According to Odaily, the 201st Ethereum Core Developers Execution (ACDE) meeting was summarized by Christine Kim, Vice President of Research at Galaxy. During the meeting, EF Developer Operations Engineer Parithosh Jayanthi highlighted three open pull requests (PRs) for the Pectra Devnet 5 specifications, urging client teams to review them promptly to finalize the Devnet 5 specifications. The key points discussed included EIP 7742, which aims to remove the blob limit between CL and EL for each block (consensus); the addition of EIP 7691 to increase blob throughput (consensus); and the necessary changes for EIP 7742 (execution API).
Core developer Tim Beiko mentioned that he would add EIP 7691 to the Pectra Meta EIP after the meeting. EF researcher Ansgar Dietrichs confirmed that he had determined the update score for EIP 7691 and was ready to merge it into the Devnet 5 specifications. Beiko further stated that there are three main issues related to Pectra and EL, concerning BLS gas repricing and the inclusion of EIP 7623 and EIP 7762 in Pectra. He emphasized the importance of defining the scope of Pectra before the holidays to proceed with the upgrade implementation with a "clear goal" in January.
Developers have agreed to remove pre-Merge block bodies and receipt data by May 1, 2025. Developer Piper Merriam noted that the benefit of removing pre-Merge data from clients is that it would free up "hundreds of GB of available disk space" on nodes. The comprehensive plan surrounding EIP 7639 will be a step towards achieving the expiration of Ethereum's full historical records as defined in EIP 4444. Merriam stressed that client teams must begin working on EIP 7639 promptly to meet the target date of May 1, 2025.
