根据 Fantom 基金会发布的公告，Sonic 基金会将负责 Sonic 生态系统的治理及其金库管理功能，Sonic Labs 将专注于 Sonic 网路的去中心化应用、合作关系和社群。
Fantom Opera 是 Fantom 生态的一个专注于去中心化金融（DeFi）的独立网路，而新的 Sonic 区块链将透过 Layer 2 跨链桥连接以太坊生态系统。Fantom 基金会执行长 Michael Kong 在发送给 CoinDesk 的一封电子邮件中表示，Sonic 将拥有「在以太坊上独立提取资金的能力」，并将为「从以太坊桥接到 Sonic 链的每个资产」生成证明。
Kong 补充说，Sonic 将在速度和安全性方面大大优于 Fantom 链，「随著时间的推移，我们预计用户和开发者将完全迁移到 Sonic 链」。
Fantom 团队也表示，一旦 Sonic 链上线（预计在今年某个时间点），该网路将拥有自己的原生代币 $S，「再最近的一次治理投票确认了这两种代币的互操作性后 ，S 将与 Fantom 现有的 FTM 代币 1:1 相容」。
在成立新的 Sonic 实体的消息发布的同时，Fantom 也宣布完成了由韩国加密风投机构 Hashed 领投的 1,000 万美元策略融资，这笔资金将用于发展 Sonic 的生态系统和产品。根据 Michael Kong 先前的说法，Sonic 预计将于今年夏末秋初亮相。
