According to PANews, the Cardano blockchain is preparing for its most significant upgrade in two years, known as the 'Chang Hard Fork.' This upgrade aims to introduce an on-chain governance mechanism, allowing ADA holders to elect representatives (dReps) and vote on improvement proposals and future technical changes. Initially scheduled for this week, the upgrade has been postponed to September 1 due to some exchanges needing additional time to prepare their systems.
The Chang Hard Fork is part of Cardano's 'Voltaire Era,' which seeks to establish a self-sustaining system managed by the community. This upgrade includes the core improvement proposal CIP-1694, which will enhance community control over the network through governance structures such as the Constitutional Committee, dReps, and stake pool operators.
