In December, XRP's price rose from $1.97 to $2.09, marking a 6% increase despite a general downturn in the cryptocurrency market. This growth is part of a larger trend, with XRP surging approximately 300% since the U.S. presidential election in November. Investors anticipate that the incoming administration may adopt a more crypto-friendly regulatory stance, particularly with the expected appointment of Paul Atkins as SEC chairman. However, analysts caution that this positive momentum may not be sustainable. Alex Kuptsikevich of FxPro notes that the likelihood of continued buyer interest is uncertain, suggesting that market conditions could either encourage further investment or lead to accelerated declines. In the broader cryptocurrency landscape, XRP is among the few tokens showing gains this month. Binance Coin and TRX have also performed well, with increases of 13% and 22% respectively in December. It's important to note that Ripple Labs, the company behind XRP, has faced legal challenges. In 2020, the SEC charged Ripple with selling unregistered securities, resulting in a $125 million fine, significantly less than the $2 billion initially demanded.
