Societe Generale’s crypto subsidiary, SG-FORGE, is expanding its EUR CoinVertible (EURCV) stablecoin to the Ripple-backed XRP Ledger (XRPL). This move will take advantage of XRPL’s cross-border payments and asset tokenization capabilities, while also benefiting from its transaction finality and high throughput.

Ripple’s Custody Solutions, formerly Metaco, will provide technical services for the stablecoin. SG-FORGE’s Chief Revenue Officer, Guillaume Chatain, believes that XRPL’s speed and cost-efficiency align with the firm’s mission to create compliant digital assets. Ripple’s Markus Infanger also highlights the significance of adding EURCV to the XRP Ledger for institutional payment use cases.

This expansion is part of SG-FORGE’s multi-chain strategy, which includes further expansions to additional blockchain networks in the future. Initially launched on Ethereum in 2023, EURCV has since expanded to Solana to drive greater adoption.
