President-elect Trump wants to appoint former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY). Clayton would oversee one of the nation’s most prominent federal prosecutor offices, which recently secured a conviction against former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.

Clayton previously played a key role in shaping cryptocurrency regulation at the SEC and signed off on the Ripple lawsuit. This is not the first time Trump has considered Clayton for this position.
