When MooDeng surged to a market cap of 400 million USD in one week, and GOAT pumped to an 800 million market cap in two weeks, more and more people in the community were left in regret. Those who sold prematurely and missed the opportunity wondered why their purchases returned to zero. Not only meme coins but Bitcoin's price also approached an all-time high of 73,562 USD on October 30, just 160 USD short of creating a new historical high.

After years of trading cryptocurrencies, everyone has likely noticed that each person has different trading styles, logic, and project preferences due to personality and experiences. However, everyone has made some profits to varying degrees. This year marks a watershed in the crypto industry, where Bitcoin and altcoins have completely independent trends, and memes have become the absolute leading narrative. We are very curious to know what kind of returns everyone's personalities will bring in this historically rare market situation.

As the cryptocurrency trading platform Bitget celebrates its sixth anniversary, it is more suitable to reference user profiles as it has experienced several rounds of bull and bear markets. Thus, we collaborated with Bitget to contact 100 users to explore the connection between personality and trading. We selected the currently popular MBTI test, which includes a total of 16 personality types, providing a more detailed classification than zodiac signs. In the interviews, we covered trading styles, risk preferences, returns this year, and even designed scenarios to see what decisions they would make in specific situations.

After in-depth surveys and interviews with these 100 Bitget users, it’s not hard to find that introverted type I personalities occupy a massive 76% in the cryptocurrency space, while extroverted type E personalities only account for 24%. INTJs make up the highest proportion at 18%, followed by INFPs, ISTPs, and INFJs in second, third, and fourth places, with one type of personality not even represented in this sample.

It should be noted that this article is based on a small sample survey of 100 people, which may have biases and cannot fully represent the entire cryptocurrency community. Next, let's look at the trading journeys of each MBTI type; could you be the 'outlier'?

INTJ: Insight

INTJs prefer to immerse themselves in technical details and formulate long-term investment strategies. They are particularly fond of disruptive technology projects like Layer 2 and cross-chain protocols; after all, who doesn't want to ride the wave of technology? In fact, 86.67% of INTJs adopt a long-term holding strategy, focusing on the long-term value of projects. After all, financial freedom requires patience and is not a game of getting rich overnight. They believe that only by deeply understanding the technological innovations and practical applications of projects can they find the true wealth codes in the cryptocurrency space.

In terms of investment returns: this year, 46.67% of INTJs had returns between 0-10%, representing the conservative faction; 40% had negative returns, possibly due to overly deep technical research, forgetting that the market also has fluctuations; 13.33% had returns between 30-50%, giving INTJs some leverage in trading victory. INTJ’s investment approach can be summarized in one sentence: 'While others are still discovering treasures, I have already begun digging.' They favor left-side trading, positioning themselves early before the market pays attention, thus being quick to engage in Bitget's pre-market trading and launchpad. While everyone is discussing a particular coin, they may have already started researching the next one.

INTJs are generally not very active on social media and would not follow the trend of spreading unverified news. 46.67% only discuss trading with a handful of friends or colleagues rather than being active on social media, and true confidants are hard to find; three or five is enough for them. Their social venues are primarily professional forums and technical communities. If you want to find them at a gathering, you might need to look for that person in the corner with a notebook. They value high-quality information, trusting verified sources such as academic papers, white papers, and technical reports. Gossip news? No thanks, not interested. If the level of technological innovation in a project is not enough to keep them up at night researching, then sorry, next.

INFP: Sentiment

If you see someone in the corner of a café sipping a latte while flipping through a philosophy book, pondering how to change the world with blockchain, then congratulations, you’ve encountered an INFP in the cryptocurrency space. Their hearts are filled with ideals and emotions, believing that cryptocurrency is not just an investment tool but a means to achieve social ideals.

INFPs enjoy investing in projects that reflect their values. After all, nothing excites them more than supporting a project that makes the world a better place. Data shows that 90% of INFP investors consider the impact of projects on the industry when selecting projects. They believe that through their investments, they can drive the world in a better direction, which is why this personality type often participates in the construction of public goods projects, living as digital nomads.

INFP's investment approach can be summarized in one sentence: 'Where the heart leads, I shall follow.' They tend to make investment decisions based on intuition and personal values, leaning towards right-side trading. When a project resonates with them, they join without hesitation. Regarding risk, 70% of INFPs are willing to take certain risks to support the projects they believe in, but they also manage risk based on their feelings. They are willing to invest for ideals, but that does not mean they are blindly reckless. In terms of investment returns, 60% of INFPs have returns between 0-10% this year, which is quite conservative.

ISTP: Casual

ISTPs seem to prefer right-side trading. When a project piques their interest, they dive in without hesitation. However, their spontaneity often brings them luck, as they have some professional traders and researchers among their friends, providing firsthand trading advice and wealth insights. They usually trust this advice and will make trading decisions after their own simple judgments and screenings.

Regarding risk, most ISTPs focus more on the experience and value of investments rather than purely economic returns. They are willing to take moderate risks as long as it brings satisfaction and enjoyment. They are very selective and casual about emerging projects, with nearly half of ISTPs deciding based on project circumstances before making decisions. As for meme coins, ISTPs have a somewhat nuanced attitude; 53.33% are interested but will invest cautiously, possibly due to research on market psychology.

In terms of investment returns, their earnings may not be stable, making significant profits but also significant losses. Sometimes, they may gain substantial returns by investing in a hot meme; other times, they may miss market opportunities due to personal preferences. However, 40% of ISFPs have achieved a 30% return this year.

An ISTP Bitget user we interviewed is also reflecting on his investment system. Due to a lack of sensitivity to details and data, he mostly follows the advice of those around him, often forgetting the positions he holds, and being slow in selling and taking profits, unexpectedly becoming a 'diamond hand', suffering significant losses. Therefore, the product he uses most frequently now is Bitget's copy trading, finding reliable traders to automate operations, ensuring swift decisions to prevent forgetting to sell.

INFJ: Vision

The INFJs in the cryptocurrency space are idealists, filled with beautiful visions for the future.

INFJs prefer to invest in projects that can change the world, typical examples being the Layer 2 projects from the first half of this year. They focus on the mission and vision of projects, believing that blockchain technology can bring societal innovation. Data shows that 85% of INFJ investors consider the positive impact on society from an idealistic perspective when choosing projects.

The investment approach of INFJs is to capture potential market trends, making decisions based on intuition and in-depth analysis, leaning towards a combination of left-side and right-side trading. They will engage in projects early and increase their positions when trends are clear, participating in Bitget's launchpad and launchpool based on market conditions, but they hardly engage in contracts. Regarding risk, 70% of INFJs assess whether the risks are worth taking based on the project's mission and value. In terms of investment returns, 60% of INFJs have returns between 10-30%, valuing long-term value growth over short-term fluctuations.

75% of INFJs like to share their insights in small circles or professional communities. They are not particularly keen on speaking in public, preferring deep and constructive discussions, valuing intuition and insight, and trusting sources of information that inspire thought, such as in-depth analysis articles, industry reports, and KOL perspectives.

ISFP: Agility

ISFPs in the cryptocurrency space are doers who like to get hands-on and enjoy the problem-solving process. ISFPs have a natural sensitivity to technology and numbers while placing greater emphasis on practicality. They enjoy exploring novel projects, especially those they can personally participate in, test, and improve. At the same time, they are also adept at K-line research.

Their industry backgrounds are also diverse; 26.67% come from finance/investment; 26.67% are full-time traders treating investment as a career; 13.33% come from the IT/internet sector, being part of the programmer army. Besides the cryptocurrency space, most of them also invest in A-shares, Hong Kong stocks, and other financial investments.

An ISFP Bitget user told us that he spends most of his time analyzing K-lines and participating in cycling competitions. While these activities provide an adrenaline rush, they do not indulge in such thrills in daily life; instead, they pursue a sense of calm and strict adherence to plans. White papers and positive news are often created by those with intent, but trading volume and market cap data are mostly real. Therefore, in life, he prefers to analyze the market alone, study K-lines, and does not like to mingle in circles discussing current events, nor does he enjoy interacting with others in professional communities or technical forums, preferring his practical experience and trusting his intuition and judgment. The Bitget product he uses the most is futures, usually focused on mainstream coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, based on the 200 MA technical indicators and the trading volume and market cap of the coins, and he strictly sets stop-loss points.

ISFP's investment approach can be summarized in one sentence: 'Action above all, opportunities are fleeting.' They tend to make decisions quickly based on real-time market changes, leaning towards right-side trading, engaging in short-term operations, often favoring contract operations; when the market fluctuates, they may have completed multiple trades in a short period. ISFP's returns may vary significantly. Sometimes, they can achieve high returns in a short time; other times, they may suffer losses due to being overly aggressive. But for them, the learning gained from the process is more important than the outcome.

ENFP: Enthusiasm

If you see someone animatedly discussing the beautiful future of the crypto world at a blockchain conference, chances are you've met an ENFP in the cryptocurrency space. They are always full of enthusiasm.

ENFPs like to invest in projects filled with novel concepts and enormous potential, leaning towards right-side trading. When a project ignites their imagination, they quickly invest, fearing they might miss the next big opportunity.

Most ENFPs are willing to try high-risk, high-reward investment opportunities. Of course, returns can fluctuate significantly. Sometimes, they can achieve astonishing returns by hitting the right trend; other times, they may suffer losses due to being overly optimistic. But for them, the experience is more important than the outcome.

They are social butterflies; 90% of ENFPs are active on social media and in communities. They enjoy sharing their insights, organizing discussions, and even initiating online and offline events. They believe that connecting with others can create greater value.

INTP: Logic

INTPs base their investment decisions on rigorous theories and logic, showing a strong interest in innovative projects.

In terms of operation and risk preference, INTPs tend to think independently, make rational decisions, and lean towards left-side trading. INTPs have a relatively rational understanding of risk; 70% of INTPs moderately participate in high-risk, high-return investment opportunities but strictly control the risk proportion. They are willing to take certain risks to pursue high returns but will use theoretical validation and logical reasoning to reduce uncertainty. In terms of investment returns, almost all INTPs have returns between 0-10%, being steady and rational. They do not pursue getting rich overnight but focus more on long-term value accumulation.

Of course, INTPs can also have exceptions. One Bitget user told us that this year his most satisfactory trade was BOME, which was not his area of expertise. But at that time, he noticed the comparison of liquidity and market cap, and very few people in the community mentioned the massive liquidity, so he jumped in. As the price rapidly rose, he quickly increased his position. Ultimately, he waited for the launch of a major trading platform.

60% of INTPs prefer to discuss with a few like-minded friends or colleagues. They are active in professional communities and enjoy sharing research findings.

ISTJ: Discipline

If you see someone checking market trends at fixed times every day, recording price movements, and strictly executing trades according to plan, then congratulations, you've encountered an ISTJ in the cryptocurrency space. They are maintainers of rules, focusing on details and order.

ISTJs prefer stable investment strategies, favoring mature projects like Bitcoin and Ethereum. They believe that long-term holding is the best way to gain returns and are not easily influenced by market fluctuations. Besides Bitcoin and Ethereum, their favorite is Bitget's financial products, with the recent BGSOL being a favorite; BGSOL is Bitget's liquid staking solution product, earning BGSOL tokens after staking SOL, currently offering a comprehensive annualized return of about 30.15%, allowing them to generate returns from liquidity that is temporarily unused while not putting all eggs in one basket.

ISTJs tend to prefer left-side trading, buying when prices are reasonable and holding for longer periods. They are cautious towards risk; 80% of ISTJs prefer stable returns, avoiding high-risk investments. They conduct in-depth research on the fundamentals of projects, focusing on technical white papers and team backgrounds. For them, data and facts outweigh everything. They prefer independent thinking; 70% of ISTJs like to analyze the market alone but will consult professionals when necessary. They are not very active on social media and prefer to read professional reports and information.

ENTJ: Leader

ENTJs like to invest in projects with enormous potential and grand visions. They focus on industry trends, looking for opportunities that can change the game. They may not only be investors but also promoters and leaders of projects.

Similarly, ENTJs also tend to prefer left-side trading, positioning themselves before others spot opportunities. They have a rational understanding of risk, with 60% of ENTJs willing to take high risks in pursuit of high returns. They are adept at analyzing macro environments and industry trends, formulating long-term strategies. They are not distracted by short-term fluctuations, focusing more on long-term value.

85% of ENTJs are active in industry conferences, professional forums, and social media. They enjoy networking and expanding their connections with industry elites.

ENFJ: Sharing

90% of ENFJs are active in communities, social media, and offline events. They are happy to share, good at listening, and are the 'soul' of the community. They tend to prefer left-side trading, positioning themselves in advance based on trust and vision in projects. Regarding risk, 70% of ENFJs are willing to take moderate risks to support meaningful projects, focusing on interaction with teams and communities, and liking to deeply understand the concepts and values behind the projects.

ISFJ: Guardian

ISFJs in the cryptocurrency space emphasize stability and reliability, preferring to invest in verified and safe projects, favoring mainstream coins.

Thus, they prefer right-side trading, taking action when market trends are clear. They are cautious about risk; 85% of ISFJs prefer low-risk investments, pursuing steady returns. They spend time researching the safety and reliability of projects, avoiding overly complex or high-risk investments.

They are not very active on social media; 60% of ISFJs prefer discussing investments with close friends or family. They value trust and reliable relationships.

ESTJ: Execution

ESTJs are doers, pursuing excellent execution and preferring to invest in projects with clear business models and profitability. They focus on the practical application and market prospects of projects and tend to invest in tokens that can bring actual returns.

Those who prefer right-side trading make decisions based on market data and trends. 75% of ESTJs have clear control strategies for risk, pursuing stable returns. They are also very fond of financial products, often placing part of their positions in Bitget's stablecoin investments. ESTJs excel at using technical analysis and data indicators, emphasizing efficiency and execution, and are not easily swayed by emotions. 80% of ESTJs participate in industry conferences, professional forums, and business events. They value the establishment and maintenance of professional networks.

They enjoy debating and thinking, often analyzing the market and projects from different angles, adept at discovering opportunities that others might overlook.

ESFP, ESFJ, ESTP: Optimistic, United, Adventurous

These three types of MBTI tend to lean towards right-side trading, favoring high risk in pursuit of high returns. Due to the small number of these three types in the sample, they are currently among the rarest 'varieties' in the cryptocurrency space.

Overall, we find that cryptocurrency investors have a greater risk tolerance than traditional investors, which also indirectly suggests and confirms the user characteristics among different trading platforms. For instance, due to Bitget's relatively fast pace in listing and new product launches, Bitget users also exhibit stronger investment acuity and cutting-edge tendencies to a certain extent.

Among them, introverted (I) investors are better at deep thinking, favoring technical analysis and research, formulating long-term strategies, and often play a 'research-oriented' role in the market; while extroverted (E) investors, relying on social insights, are better at seeking wealth codes at the forefront of communities and capturing market hotspots.

This also provides us with an interesting perspective to understand how different personality types of investors survive and develop in the rapidly changing cryptocurrency market, also providing some reference information for their own personalities to find more suitable trading strategies and products based on their character traits.

During the process of selecting this topic on 'MBTI and Cryptocurrency Trading Styles', it was a pleasure to chat with so many ordinary users involved in cryptocurrency after a long time. Besides witnessing the diversity of users, we also observed the growth and innovation of trading platforms. Cryptocurrency trading has evolved over the years, from a single project a month to thousands a day, and trading platforms continue to iterate to adapt to the ever-changing trading environment.

It reminds me that the most popular pre-market trading this year actually started with Bitget, and it has emerged as an innovative application scenario after two years since the major industry crash in 2022. The industry desperately needs innovation in trading.

As Bitget celebrates its sixth anniversary, looking ahead to the next six years, perhaps the industry will develop in these potentially unlimited markets like RWA and stablecoins, and Bitget will continue its current innovation, continuously creating new trading scenarios and products to meet the needs of different users. After all, those who gain the users gain the world. A trading platform's most recognized praise in the industry may not only be 'this platform can help retail traders make money,' but also its ability to provide diverse products to meet the needs of various types of investors.

Finally, with the arrival of the upcoming US election voting day next week, Trump's chances of winning are steadily rising, and the cryptocurrency space may usher in a more intense bull market peak. Regardless of personality type, we wish everyone could find the trading strategy that suits them best, maximizing investment returns while being mindful of risks.
