Some of the worst and most problematic cryptocurrencies in history include:
1. BitConnect (BCC) is one of the most notorious cryptocurrencies, which has become a symbol of fraud and pyramid schemes. In January 2018, the developers suddenly closed the project and disappeared with investors’ money, causing them huge losses.
2. TerraUSD (UST) - an algorithmic stablecoin of the Terra project, which lost its peg to the US dollar in May 2024, which led to the collapse of the entire Terra ecosystem. Investors lost billions of dollars invested in UST and the associated LUNA token.
3. Squid Game (SQUID) is a fraudulent cryptocurrency created under the guise of the official token of a popular TV series. After the price soared, the developers disappeared with investors’ money.
The main problems of these "worst" cryptocurrencies were fraud, pyramid schemes, lack of real use and technological value.
Their collapse caused serious harm to investors and underscored the importance of carefully vetting projects before investing.
