1.DOGE — The Most Iconic Meme Coin
Dogecoin is the original meme coin. Created in 2013, it features a female Shiba Inu named Kabosu. According to its founder, the coin was created as a joke to poke fun at the craze surrounding cryptocurrencies at the time.
Ironically, Dogecoin went on to become one of the most successful cryptocurrencies of all time. The coin did not see any notable price action in its first few years, but by the end of 2020, Dogecoin’s popularity had skyrocketed, fueled by the Reddit army.
In 2021, Dogecoin’s price surged, just like the rest of the cryptocurrency market. The digital token hit an all-time high of $0.73 on May 8, 2021.
Since then, the coin has experienced losses, but is currently recovering and will reach a market cap of $20.2 billion by May 2024, giving traders hope that Dogecoin will still be a good investment in 2024.
