According to U.Today, Elon Musk, the innovative entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla, has announced a significant investment in artificial intelligence (AI), sparking widespread discussion about potential collaborations with xAI and the Grok AI chatbot. Musk has been increasingly investing his time, energy, and money into the AI sector, having founded xAI to compete with OpenAI. The Grok chatbot is an AI product that has already been integrated with the X social media platform, formerly known as Twitter. X has become a major xAI shareholder.
Musk has announced that Tesla plans to invest a staggering $10 billion into AI training, with the involvement of xAI. This has led to speculation about whether xAI will increase its cooperation with Tesla, such as Tesla acquiring a stake in it, or becoming involved with Grok in the future. Musk emphasized that any company not investing in AI at this level, or not doing so efficiently, will be unable to compete with rivals. In the first quarter, Tesla has already spent $1 billion on this effort and has doubled its compute capacity during that training.
In other news, renowned horror writer Stephen King, a long-time Twitter user, has criticized Elon Musk's decision to rebrand Twitter as X. King has been a long-term critic of Musk's acquisition of Twitter and its transformation into the 'everything app' X, including the introduction of mandatory monthly fees for multi-colored verification checkmarks. King, who received his blue verification mark for free, has been vocal about his disapproval. Despite this, X has recently started giving away free blue ticks to users with a significant number of followers, along with free access to premium features.
