Two U.S. lawmakers working to push for cryptocurrency regulation, Rep. Patrick McHenry and Sen. Cynthia Lummis, still insist there is still a chance of passing a bill before the end of the year. That slim chance would require some must-advance legislation to be passed during the so-called lame duck session (after the election but before new lawmakers take office), with cryptocurrency-related matters attached to those bills. McHenry suggested legislation might need to be tied to spending plans that require congressional approval this year, but he acknowledged that might not be possible; Lummis reiterated her view that the U.S. should establish a strategic reserve of bitcoin with a four-year purchase plan.
