According to Odaily, a group of participants in the cryptocurrency industry has established a non-profit organization named the Decentralized AI Society (DAIS) to tackle potential monopolies in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector. The group is led by Michael Casey, former Chief Content Officer at CoinDesk and Chairman of Consensus. The eight founding members of DAIS include CETI AI, Filecoin Foundation, Bloq, Hypercycle, Morpheus, Hemi, Odyssey, and Lumerin.
On Tuesday, during an interview at the Token2049 blockchain conference in Singapore, Casey stated, 'DAIS believes that centralized platforms in the AI era have a significant advantage. They possess all the data, computing power, and even regulatory bodies.' DAIS aims to address four key issues: bringing capital to the decentralized AI world, which has become an arms race for resources like GPUs and data centers; formulating policies to establish AI regulations; promoting education and awareness of decentralized AI; and engineering new algorithms for learning models in a distributed manner.
