Buffett's six life insights
1. Marry the right person for you
Said in a conversation with Bill Gates in 2017. "By far, the most important person in this regard is your spouse, and this cannot be overemphasized."
Said at the 2009 shareholders' meeting: "Marry the right person for you, and I'm serious about this. This will make a bigger difference in your life, change your ambitions and all kinds of things."
2. The best investment is self-investment
"Obviously, the best investment you can make is self-investment."
He emphasizes taking care of your body and mind - especially when you are young.
"If I give you a car, and it will be the only car you get for the rest of your life, then you will definitely take good care of it, to the extent that you dare not imagine. You will want to repair any scratches, you will read the owner's manual, you will keep a garage, and so on."
He said. "You only have one mind and one body in this world, and you can't wait until you're 50 to start taking care of them. If you don't do anything when you're young, they'll rust."
3. Associate with "high-quality people"
Buffett said in an interview, "One of the best things you can do in life is to surround yourself with people who are worse than you."
"If you hang out with people who are not as good as you, you'll soon start to be pulled in that direction."
4. Work for someone you respect
"Try to work for the people you admire most."
"It may not be the job you'll be doing in 10 years, but you'll have the opportunity to learn a lot as you go along."
"You shouldn't take a job just for the money."
5. Ignore the noise
“Frankly, I don’t care what economists say.”
“If you look at the entire history of [economists], they don’t make a lot of money buying and selling stocks, but people who buy and sell stocks listen to them. I’m a little bit dissatisfied with that.”
6. Success is not measured in money
“Unconditional love is the greatest blessing you can get.”
