Lawyers for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have opposed Coinbase's subpoena requests, which seek to search for "substantially all crypto-related documents." The court documents filed Monday are the latest development in the ongoing legal battle between the SEC and Coinbase. Coinbase is seeking to subpoena the SEC and its employees, including Chairman Gary Gensler, for communications and other records that could help Coinbase defend itself in its upcoming trial against the SEC. The SEC filed a civil lawsuit against Coinbase last year, accusing it of operating as an unregistered securities exchange, broker-dealer and clearing agency. (CoinDesk.)
