Happycoin.club - Worldcoin digital identity project presented a preliminary version of its own blockchain for World Chain developers.

It is intended to be a “permissionless, open source and independently governed” platform for Worldcoin users to connect their verified identities with third-party services, including stablecoin financing, international money transfers and commercial use cases.

The test version for developers will allow them to start building and experimenting with applications before the network is publicly deployed to more than 10 million users in 160 different countries. All users of World ID, the wallet app serving Worldcoin users, will be transferred to the new network later this year.

One of the main reasons for moving to World Chain's own blockchain from Ethereum layer 2 called Optimism was scalability. Worldcoin developers noted that currently 50% of all activity in Optimism is generated by Worldcoin users, and at peak periods this figure reaches 80%.

With the launch of World Chain, the network is expected to handle twice as many transactions with increased security being a top priority.

The concept of World Chain was first announced in April, its main purpose is to eliminate the current inefficiency of the blockchain when dealing with World ID user identification data.
