Statement from CMB: Crypto exchanges were given until August 2

The Capital Markets Board (CMB) required organizations that operate crypto asset service providers and intend to continue doing so to submit a written statement to the institution with the necessary documents by August 2, 2024.

The Capital Markets Board (CMB) published a statement regarding crypto asset service providers, including cryptocurrency exchanges, on its official website.

In the statement, crypto asset service providers currently operating were asked to apply to the institution by August 2, 2024. In the section on the subject, it was said:

“Those who have been carrying out crypto asset service provider activities as of 02.07.2024 and have the will to continue to do so, must submit their declarations in accordance with the first paragraph of the Provisional Article 11 together with the information, documents and explanations in Annex/1 and Annex/2, to our Board by 02.08.2024. They must submit it in writing.”

It was also emphasized that those who are currently operating as crypto asset service providers but will not continue this activity should decide to liquidate by October 2, 2024.

On the other hand, it was underlined that crypto asset service providers based abroad must terminate their activities for people residing in Turkey by October 2, 2024 at the latest.
