AI expert Geoffrey Hinton, known as the "Godfather of AI," recently advised UK lawmakers to consider a universal basic income (UBI) to mitigate potential job losses due to AI automation. Hinton, who previously developed AI features for Google, believes the AI revolution will primarily benefit the wealthy, leaving many without a source of income. OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman, who studied under Hinton, also supports UBI. Altman's venture, Worldcoin, aims to provide UBI through a free cryptocurrency token. Both Hinton and Altman have expressed concerns about the existential threat AI could pose to humanity.
