Meanwhile, strong earnings results from BoA and MS buoyed financials, while Charles Schwab's upbeat assessments on high-cost deposit flight gave an assuring vote of confidence to the entire regional banking sector. Charles Schwab's stock jumped 14%, while the KBW regional bank index climbed 3.5% to close at the highest levels since March.
