According to BlockBeats, on April 1st, Ordinals protocol founder Casey Rodarmor praised the Runes protocol in a social media post. He stated that although Runes was initially built for Degen and Memecoin, the protocol is simple, efficient, and secure. It stands as a legitimate competitor to Taproot Assets and RGB.

Rodarmor emphasized that the Runes protocol is independent and does not rely on Ordinals or inscriptions, making it very straightforward. Balances are stored in UTXOs, which can be locked in HTLCs, allowing Runes to be used on the Lightning Network.

Despite his skepticism towards 'serious' tokens, Rodarmor acknowledged that Runes is undoubtedly a 'serious' token protocol.
