Pavel Durov, the billionaire founder and CEO of Telegram, was reportedly arrested at Bourget airport near Paris on Saturday evening, according to French media outlets TF1 TV and BFM TV, which cited unnamed sources. Durov was on his private jet, and the arrest was reportedly due to an outstanding warrant in France connected to a preliminary police investigation. The investigation is said to focus on the lack of moderators on Telegram, which authorities believe has allowed criminal activities to occur on the platform unchecked. Neither Telegram nor the French authorities have commented on the situation. TF1 mentioned that Durov was traveling from Azerbaijan and was arrested around 20:00 local time (18:00 GMT).
