July’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation data is set to be released on August 14, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. ET. In June, the headline CPI recorded a slight monthly decrease of -0.1%, while the core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, showed a modest 0.1% increase. On a year-over-year basis, June’s CPI data reported 3% headline inflation and 3.3% core inflation .

For July, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland’s nowcasts project headline CPI at 0.24% and core CPI at 0.27%, indicating a continuation of the disinflation trend in the U.S. The Personal Consumption Expenditure (PCE) Price Index, due on August 30, is expected to show similar patterns, reinforcing the narrative that inflation is gradually returning to lower levels.
