Crypto privacy protocol Railgun has successfully intercepted an attempt by Inferno Drainer to launder over 174 ETH, worth approximately $533,000. The thwarted effort forced the return of the stolen funds to the original wallet.

Inferno Drainer, a notorious crypto drainer, had previously ceased operations after reportedly stealing over $80 million from 5,000 victims. However, citing increased demand and the exit of competitors, it resumed activities in May. Despite a six-month hiatus, the group claimed to have drained more than $125 million in crypto assets in private operations.

Railgun has faced scrutiny as an alternative to Tornado Cash, a platform widely used by scammers to launder stolen funds. Despite accusations of being used by North Korean hacker group Lazarus Group to launder over $60 million worth of stolen ETH, Railgun denies these claims, citing its 'Private Proofs of Innocence' feature as a safeguard against unauthorized access.
