The Open Network (TON) ecosystem is experiencing a surge in phishing attacks, with users' TON wallets being targeted via deceptive methods such as airdrops, according to Yu Xian, founder of blockchain security firm SlowMist. The attacks are primarily propagated through group chats and are compromising users' TON wallets and stealing assets, including NFTs. Anonymous Telegram numbers, a feature added in late 2022, are particularly at risk.

Despite these security concerns, TON has seen significant growth in 2024. The Layer 1 blockchain's daily transfer volume recently reached 10% of Bitcoin's figures, with daily transfers oscillating between $5 billion and $10 billion. This surge in network activity is attributed to several developments, including an advertising system on Telegram distributing half of the revenue generated by channels directly to their owners in TON cryptocurrency.

The Open League program, launched in April, introduced a long-term incentive structure for TON community stakeholders. Additionally, DeFiLlama data revealed that TON's total value locked (TVL) surged to nearly $650 million, marking an over 4,540% increase since the beginning of 2024.
