Binance froze the accounts of users who won unfair airdrops.
Binance announced on June 25 that 297 main accounts were banned following the Megadrop event. It was stated that these accounts carried out irregular transactions to gain unfair airdrops and abuse the Megadrop event.
A Single Person Had 9,000 Accounts
In the statement, it was disclosed that an airdrop hunter purchased a total of 9,000 KYC (Identity Verification) accounts and joined Megadrop through these accounts. The accounts of these 9,000 account users were frozen in a single pool.
Binance detected that a total of 102,000 wallets were fake as a result of risk checks:
"Someone bulk-acquired Megadrop rewards by purchasing a large amount of KYC and attempted to escape by pooling the funds in an account after it was risk-checked by the system, thus risk-checking was triggered again and frozen. There were over 1 million participants in total, of which 102,000 were risk-checked fake accounts was determined as ".
