Hong Kong is courting Canadian crypto and Web3 startups, promoting its tech-friendly environment at a recent tech conference in Toronto. The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Toronto, Invest Hong Kong, and StartmeupHK highlighted the city's crypto-centric landscape. They emphasized lower taxes than Canada, a willingness to work with specialist tech companies, and a creative mindset towards Web3 and virtual assets. Canadian businesses in Hong Kong can also receive public and private funding due to a longstanding tax treaty. This comes after Hong Kong recently shut down all unlicensed crypto exchanges, with some planning to relaunch after meeting regulatory requirements.
