SEC Ends Securities Investigation Regarding Ethereum (ETH)!

Is Ethereum (ETH) a security or a commodity?

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has long claimed that Ethereum is a security. SEC officials, who even opened an investigation to prove this, ended their investigation into whether ETH was a security on June 19.

Sharing information that these investigations have been terminated, Consensys lawyer Laura Brookover recently said the following on the subject:

“The SEC will no longer have an objection that Ethereum is a security.

This is based on Ethereum spot ETF approvals. “ETH will now have commodity status.”

However, Carol Goforth, a professor at the University of Arkansas School of Law who specializes in securities regulation, argues that the SEC's approval of the spot Ethereum ETF does not mean that ETH is a commodity.

Despite media contact efforts, SEC officials did not make any statement regarding this issue.

It is important to note that although the SEC has approved spot Ethereum ETFs, it has not yet approved final S-1 filings.
