Kanav Kariya, who headed the cryptocurrency department at trading giant Jump Trading at the age of 25, has left the company. This comes after reports that the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission is investigating the company's cryptocurrency transactions.
In early 2022, the Wormhole cryptocurrency bridge that supported Jump was hacked and over $300 million was stolen. Jump was forced to cover the losses from its own pocket. Then the Terra/Luna Do Kwon project collapsed, leading to criminal charges against Kwon. According to US authorities, Jump earned more than $1 billion from this ecosystem before its collapse.
Kariya said he plans to remain involved with the companies with which he has worked most closely.
